OSTEOPATHY TREATMENTS

What does an osteopath do?

Osteopathy is a primary care profession, focusing on the diagnosis, treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal disorders, and the effects of these conditions on patients’ general health.

Most people think about seeing an osteopath when they are in pain. Some of the most common conditions include back and neck pain.

Osteopaths are specially trained in dealing with musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction, using many diagnostic procedures found in orthodox medicine.

Our patient-centred approach means that treatment is specific to your symptoms and individual needs and by treating the underlying cause, rather than just the symptoms, a better outcome can be achieved.

Osteopaths use a range of gentle hands on techniques including soft tissue stretching, mobilisation and manipulation of joints.

They say the best way to avoid seeing an osteopath is to visit one!

Some common conditions where osteopathy can help.

Low Back Pain:

Almost one in ten people suffer from low back pain at any one time. 80-90% of us will experience low back pain in our lifetime. Back pain symptoms can get in the way of our daily activities and impact our quality of life. Whether you have pain sitting, standing or pain in the legs, in most cases, low back pain can be managed with conservative Osteopathic treatment. Patients seeing Mark Stockwell will receive a diagnosis and a management plan to help with their recovery.

Neck Pain:

Neck pain is very common and can have many different causes. You may have sprained your neck from a sudden movement, or have sharp stabbing pain radiating across your shoulder and down your arm or maybe a chronic stiffening of the neck that limits your range of movement as a result of poor posture or getting older. Mark Stockwell can help with the many causes of simple mechanical neck pain with the gentle use of osteopathy.
