SHOCKWAVE THERAPY

ESWT Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy is highly effective in reducing pain, accelerating recovery times and restoring dysfunction. It is ideal for treating both chronic and acute musculoskeletal conditions. It’s an amazing treatment modality!

Focused & Radial Shockwave Therapy

At the clinic we offer the more effective focused shockwave (true shockwave), as well as radial shockwave (pressure wave) and EMTT® treatments. Having all three technologies sets us apart from other clinics, and means we can offer more effective combined treatment options for patients with a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, such as plantar fasciitis, rotator cuff tendinopathy, tennis elbow, patella tendinitis, hamstring tendinopathy, achilles tendinopathy, low back pain (facet arthropathy), and vascular Erectile Dysfunction (ED) .

Shockwave therapy is an evidence based, non-invasive medical treatment that uses high-intensity sound waves to stimulate tissue regeneration and promote healing in the body.

Shockwave therapy is approved by NICE for chronic musculoskeletal conditions. With a success rate of up to 85%, 4 to 6 sessions of shockwave therapy can make a huge difference to the patient and help them recover from pain and dysfunction. Shockwave Therapy is the gold standard treatment for plantar fasciitis, as recommended by NICE (UK).

Focussed shockwave therapy is generally more effective than radial pressure wave therapy because it delivers precise, high-energy waves that penetrate deeper into tissues, allowing for targeted treatment of specific areas, promoting faster healing and better outcomes for chronic musculoskeletal conditions.

Patients that combine shockwave therapy, Osteopathy and EMTT®, do better than just Osteopathy or Physiotherapy alone! Call me on 01264 580280 to discover if Shockwave Therapy & EMTT can help you get better sooner.

Your Treatment

We will take a detailed medical history from you to learn about the history of the symptoms and to gain important additional information by asking specific questions. This is then followed up by a hands-on examination using special orthopaedic tests, if required.

In some cases you may feel mild discomfort at the beginning. However, treatment is delivered with low amounts of energy at first, which is then increased as the body gets used to it.

Shockwave and EMTT is not a short-term single treatment therapy. The benefit is cumulative with treatments typically given weekly. The patient is advised to commit to the prescribed weekly treatments otherwise the treatment effect may be delayed or diminished.

Shockwave therapy is often given in conjunction with exercise rehabilitation.

Our shockwave equipment is by the Swiss company Storz Medical - which is widely considered to be the best available. It is the same equipment used by major NHS/Private Hospitals and elite sports clubs around the world.
